Great indeed, the mystery of godliness; there is no one who would deny it.
He was revealed in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory! 1 Timothy 3:16
This mystery was hidden for ages from all generations.
but now it has been revealed to his saints… Colossians 1:26
I was once a person who did not know the mystery the Bible teaches.
I did not attach much meaning to the word “mystery.”
But now that mystery has been unlocked for me. So, it is no longer a mystery for me.
That mystery is the Gospel which Paul preached.
“Remember that Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel.” 2 Timothy 2:8
Paul, too, once opposed God’s righteousness with his own righteousness because that mystery had not been revealed to him.
But when God unlocked that mystery, he became someone who would reveal the mystery.
Only someone who has had the mystery unlocked can unlock it for others.
When a person receives by heart the gospel that Paul proclaimed,
a burning desire arises within to unlock that mystery for those who do not know it.
This is exactly what the promise of Acts 1:8 fulfills.
The Holy Spirit is God’s gift of power bestowed on those whose mystery has been unlocked.
That gift comes when the mystery is revealed. The holy Spirit that is God’s own essence comes to dwell.
That Jehovah God took on human form, that God rose from the dead, that is a great and wondrous mystery. Hallelujah!
