Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading the prophet Isaiah.
He asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?”
So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about?
Himself, or someone else?”
Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture
and told him the good news about Jesus. Acts 8:27–31, 34–35
Someone today was asking questions just like the Ethiopian eunuch.
“I still find the Trinity difficult, confusing, and mysterious.
No one explains it clearly.
Words like ‘only begotten Son,’ ‘Son,’ and ‘Father’
when I try to place them into the context of Scripture,
they end up meaning something completely different and confusing…”
As I read that person’s comment,
I was reminded of the Ethiopian eunuch of Candace.
Sitting in his chariot, reading the Scriptures…
He said to Philip, “Please tell me…”
The Gospel Jesus Christ Himself went to meet Candace.
And that same Gospel, the Lord Himself,
went to meet the person who left that comment
and spoke the Word to him.
“I came to find My children. I became flesh and blood,
and through My resurrection I swallowed up your sin and death.”
I pray that this person may hear the voice of the Father. Hallelujah!
I pray that one more soul will come to understand the Gospel and return to the Lord.
I pray that one more soul will come to understand the Gospel and return to the Lord.
