“Each Went Their Own Way”

“The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.
He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the banquet, but they refused to come.
Then he sent other servants and said to those who were invited,
‘Look, I have prepared my meal.
My oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready.

Come to the wedding banquet.’
But they paid no attention and went off one to his field, another to his business.” (Matthew 22:2–5)

“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life;
and it is these that testify about Me.
Yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.” (John 5:39–40)

As we proclaim that gospel, it becomes easy to see that people do not want to know the truth.
Even those who study the Scriptures and those who say they pray often do not value that gospel.
Even if they hear it, they quickly lose its value.

Even though God has prepared a great and holy feast and invited them, people each go their own way.

Though God has slaughtered oxen and fattened cattle, prepared everything, and invited them,
they do not look back but walk away.
For even though it is the way to receive life according to the Word,
they truly do not desire Jesus Christ—Yehovah who became man.

Yet they readily believe in a “God the Son” who is said to have existed from the beginning, even without being urged.
That path is a familiar door they have gone in and out of all their lives;
it is wide, and many people walk it together,
so they cannot give up that comfort.
They prefer religion over the truth.

Jesus Christ still proclaims today that He is Yehovah,
the Creator who became man and the Savior.
Jesus Christ, Yehovah God, the Sovereign Lord who has swallowed up death—
He is the King of our life and the Father of glory. Hallelujah!!
