The whole armor of God can only be put on by believing the gospel
that Jehovah God, the Creator, became a man, died, and rose again.
Then we are able to stand, having girded our waist with truth,
put on the breastplate of righteousness, shod our feet with the readiness of the gospel of peace,
taken up the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God. With this armor, we can extinguish all the fiery darts of the evil one.
The Word of God is perfect and holy, possessing the power to destroy every fiery dart of the enemy.
Truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, and the sword of the Spirit
these together make up the whole armor of God,
and it is through the gospel alone that we are clothed with this armor.
In every age, people have said the same thing:
“Say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets,
Prophesy not unto us right things,
speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path,
cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.” (Isaiah 30:10–11)
People do not want to hear what is true. They ask for deception instead,
telling others to leave the right way and turn aside from the path.
Even today, they cry out that Jesus Christ is not Jehovah.
But just as no one can make heaven and earth cease to exist simply by denying them,
no one can nullify the Word of God. Not even the smallest letter or stroke of it will fail.
